Revisiting LA project _ J.'s Write up

check out some of J.'s postings on the LA project. I think he did a good job giving an overview of the kinds of actives we participated in. We have all been processing and revisiting the material of the trip in preparation for the kind of book we are producing. We have been collecting "evidence" and filling a wall in the studio. los Angeles Project (Part six) - Dan Graham: Beyond

Dan Graham retrospective at the MOCA was one of our first visits. I really enjoyed his models and it had got me returning to the idea of "sets". I have a lot of spaces like my space pod peace in mind and now see models or sets as an quick way of note taking them or making little drawings. his video on rock and roll culture in relation to religion was extremely engaging. I hope some how we can get a copy for the studio here.

The Millennium Biltmore Hotel:

this was the hotel we stayed at. It used to be were the academy awards were held. The lobby was a landscape with in its self, with the hussal and bussal of people. What a blending of cultures, there were: dance troops, Baseball teams from america, korea and around the world, families, insurance conferences and the protesters of the insurance companies outside.
