It is hard to believe that this is the sculpture studio.

Saucy - The Show - The Lecture

I promise more the three people came to the lecture. Guess no one likes to sit in the front row. We actually had a good turn out and great questions were brought up. The lecture jumped from both our experience as art students attending Burning Man and how in the larger context of a liberal arts program such activities could function. The question seemed to be... Should the school continue to financially support students to participate in Burning Man and would such an experience be applicable to other majors outside the art department? If you are asking me... yes.. to both! Liberal arts is about; experiences, both personal and communal, Its about reaching across disciplines, networking, and finding sense of self. I think that programs such as a burning man class allows this school to take advantage of what is unique to the region and create a strong brand of progresses, interdisciplinary activities.

There is an article that appeared in the colleges news paper talking about the Burning Man experience. It is a few articles in to the issue but here is a link to it: Students Go To Burning Man article

Babs - doing my  incredible make up. thanks!

"saucy" show

we had a hidden camera in the pod that wirelessly transmitted a projection on a gallery wall. here are some visitors to the pod and the image below is them caught on the camera

Me logan and Cody - a good team.... oh yes that is me with food in my mouth

"Saucy" show

I loved this loop of the temple burning. The Audio that when with it was haunting. There were people chanting and a hum of prayers. I am not very spiritual but this peace was beautiful.  Video by Nick
Jocelyn - tent (hope you all checked it out and read)

space girl

Part of Babs "make up peace" this is playa dust on the mirror she brought to burning man"

Cody ... or zoolander
most of the time I looked tough with the saw but in this pic I look a little girly with that back foot kicking out like that... nice timing on the photo Logan
Logan hard at work... or at times play. Our new thing with friends in the studio is to ask "are you having fun" Corny but really helps change our attitude towards working. Its like this reminder at 3:30 am .. oh yes this is fun!

note book sketch - space pod

Like most things in my life right now this all started from a selfish place. To those at school; yes I have heard you. I am young... and therefor right now self important. Here is a sketch of the spaceship that I wanted to hang out in .... can you tell I am quite the architect? I got the perspective thing down huh? But really this came from a deep and very shallow appreciation of space girls. Mostly I just love the sometimes silly pleasurable thoughts or activities that get passed around the studio. Russell and Jocelyn introduced me to Barbarella and I just thought it would me fun to create a nice space for others view the movie and maybe even experience the desires that only Jane Fonda can satisfy. And like all fun endeavors Logan got involved and as a collaboration was able to bring is unique sense of aesthetics and creativity.
"I want to build a control panel"
"Ok as long as it dose not light the pod or the gallery on fire"
And like that Logan transformed in to a fifth grade boy getting in to his fathers powertools.. taking apart any electronics that looked remotely like it possessed the possibility of electrocution.
